How to Apply
For scholarships offered by the Political Science Department:
- Complete and sign the APPLICATION PACKET FOR UNDERGRADUATE SCHOLARSHIPS
- Attach a statement of no more than 500 word to this application describing your background, educational and career plans, and how receiving a scholarship would help you to continue your education.
- Attach or send in a copy of all official or unofficial college transcripts. Include your University of Utah transcript, if applicable. If you have credit from outside institutions, only submit transcripts where you completed 15 or more credit hours.
- Two letters of recommendation are required. At least one letter must be from an academic source. Both letters must be on official letterhead and signed or they will not be considered. Please remember to choose people who know you well to compose these letters. Letters must be sent directly to the Political Science Department.
- Mail or deliver the Application Packet with all supporting documentation to the Political Science Department at the University of Utah: ONLY COMPLETED APPLICATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED.
- Application deadline: February 1st @ 4 pm

Scholarship Eligibility Checklist
All Scholarships awarded through the Political Science Department at the University of Utah require the following criteria be met:
- Students must be matriculated (degree-seeking) with the University of Utah.
- Students must be seeking their first Bachelor degree at the University of Utah, and have not had a Bachelor's degree awarded to them by any institution
- Students must a declared Political Science major.
- Recipients of scholarship awards must enroll in at least one Political Science course in each semester (Fall and Spring) of the academic year for which they receive the award.
- Recipients of scholarship awards must be enrolled full-time (at least 12 credit hours) in each semester (Fall and Spring) of the academic year for which they receive the award.
- Recipients of the tuition waiver award must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 in each semester (Fall and Spring) of the academic year for which they receive the award.
Applicants will be considered for any, and all, scholarships available through the Political Science Department and for which they may qualify.
