I chose political science as my major because I find political science to be a field that includes the abstract theorizing I am personally fond of, without becoming removed from the everyday life of the average person.  I believe that the theories and concepts one learns while studying political science can be applied outside of the classroom in an attempt to better the lives of both the student, and those in the student's community.  I believe that two often overlooked components of academic success are engaging with your professors outside of class and studying material that you truly have a passion for.  I am currently a member of the Pi Sigma Alpha Honor Society, the Political Science Undergraduate SAC, and the Political Theory Club.  I am primarily interested in international relations and political philosophy and intend to take part in a Hinckley Internship in Washington DC this summer.  I intend to continue my study of political science at the graduate level.
